Ellie grew up in the industrial outskirts of Quackridge, where the sound of factories drowned out dreams. A natural empath, Ellie felt everything too deeply and learned to numb the pain early. He became hooked on a syrupy drink called Driproot, a potent blend of sugar, distortion, and sedation pushed by Big Slurp Incorporated. Years of use turned Ellie into a ghost of himself.
But one night, he heard an old record—a jazz tune from long ago—and something woke up inside him. The memory of his mother’s humming, the warmth of being seen… it came back. That night, he flushed the Driproot and walked to the edge of town barefoot, where he collapsed beneath the Beacon Tree.
A duck named Lucius found him there. And from that moment on, Ellie chose to live differently. He now runs the Gentle Path Clinic, a recovery center for distorted creatures trying to remember who they are. He believes the soul is never broken, only buried. Ellie helps uncover it.
He walks with a soft step and a heavy heart, but he never stops walking.

After years in the fog, Ellie tried to quit and relapsed five times. On the sixth attempt, he heard a song—a real one—and felt something ancient stir. That stirring saved his life.
Now he plays the drums again, but only in the early morning. When no one’s around but the trees.
